First Annual "Cryptic Brevity" Award Granted to Elizabeth Burger

The outgoing president of the ABCUSA Board of International Ministries, Elizabeth Burger, is hereby awarded His Barking Dog's First Annual "Cryptic Brevity" trophey for her work at the . . .

THE ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-NINTH ANNUAL MEETING
of the
AMERICAN BAPTIST FOREIGN MISSION SOCIETY
Green Lake, WI
Saturday, November 19, 2005

Following the report from the Acting Executive Director, Charles Jones, in which he thanked President Elizabeth Burger and Vice-President Vic Gordon, the trustees of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society heard the "Report of the President."

"President Elizabeth Burger (sic) report consisted of a single statement: 'Jesus said blessed is the one who endures until they shall be saved.'"

"There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. "

In all fairness, meetings of the ABFMS and the ABHMS are rather perfunctory due to the "real" business taking place in the General Board and the successor organizations, BIM (for ABFMS) and BNM (for ABHMS). Still, given the political circumstances in the ABCUSA at the present time, Burger's cryptic brevity and choice of biblical citation seemed worthy of note.
